Cops disabled a trip wire and defused a triggering device at the Dark Knight Shooter's (James Holmes)booby-trapped apartment.
They sent in a robot to disable the trip wire with an explosive water-bottle device. The second controlled explosion blew out parts of the apartment window.
The elaborate traps included two trip wires at the front door; 30 shells filled with gunpowder, wired to a central control box in the kitchen; two jars containing "incendiary liquids" to fuel a fire after the initial explosion; and, an unspecified number of bullets that were set to ricochet around the room once the explosion went off.
Police said that if the traps had detonated as designed, the explosion "would have destroyed that apartment complex."
The shooter himself gave cops the head's up that his place was rigged.
RELATED: The Dark Knight shooter is on suicide watch… As A Prisoner said ‘All the inmates were talking about killing him'
The Dark Knight Shooter (James Holmes) was acting crazy when he got to jail, and he was immediately put on suicide watch.
An inmate said, "He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards. He's spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy."
A jail employee said Holmes "hasn't shown any remorse. He thinks he's acting in a movie."
An inmate that just got released said suicide watch seems like a good place, considering how badly other inmates want a piece of him. "All the inmates were talking about killing him. Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It's all they could talk about."

Police: James Holmes may have been planning this for months
According to the police, it looks like James Holmes was planning his Dark Knight shooting spree for months.
Cops say he started buying weapons from gun stores around Aurora, Colorado, two months ago, and came to the Dark Knight Rises premiere fully stocked—with a Smith & Wesson AR-15 assault-style rifle, a Remington 870 single-barrel pump shotgun, and two 40-caliber Glock handguns.
On top of buying guns locally, he was getting "a high volume of deliveries" of weapons and ammunition at his home and work starting at least four months ago. He had arsenal of 6,000 rounds which he bought at local shops and online.
The police chief said: "What we're seeing here is evidence of some calculation and deliberation."
